CEDRUS N°4 • ATLAS

Mineral Cartography

ATLAS draws its inspiration from raw territories and landscapes that shape our imagination. Its interlaced lines evoke rock fractures, veins running through the earth and the traces of ancient maps. The composition unfolds like an abstract cartography, somewhere between geology and topography, giving the rug a presence that is both organic and architectural.

Material and Textures

Crafted in high-pressure Handtufted in a blend of New Zealand wool and hemp, ATLAS contrasts the softness of a smooth surface with the rawer, more organic character of looped reliefs. Hemp lines travel across and structure the rug, while selected areas punctuate the composition and enhance its depth.

This contrast of materials, heights and textures gives the design a distinctly tactile dimension. The precision of the Handtufted technique allows the lines to intersect, fragment and extend freely, like a territory gradually drawn into the material.

An Inner Landscape

ATLAS is conceived as a true rug-sculpture. Its composition transforms the floor into an abstract landscape, where the power of nature meets contemporary graphic expression. A raw yet refined presence, capable of structuring a space while retaining the poetry and irregularity that define its design.

Like every CEDRUS creation, ATLAS provides a starting point for a bespoke piece. Dimensions, shape and colours can be adapted to the project, as can the proportions, scale and development of the design, allowing its cartography to evolve in harmony with the architecture of each space.
