SCANDAL COLLECTIONWhen colour becomes material.

With SCANDAL COLLECTION, the House of ELSEN AND SON reinvents the gradient and turns colour into a material in its own right. Inspired by the codes of luxury and conceived as a true chromatic exploration, the collection plays with progressive variations of shades that meet, blend and transform to create vibrant, deep and distinctive surfaces.

Entirely crafted using the Handtufted technique, SCANDAL combines artisanal expertise with a particularly precise mastery of colour. The collection notably features Mousse de Soie, a blend of plant-based silks, Bamboo and Tencel whose softness and luminosity reveal the full subtlety of each gradient. The way the fibres capture and reflect light enhances the chromatic transitions, giving the rug an almost pictorial depth together with a particularly generous tactile quality.

The gradient forms the true language of SCANDAL COLLECTION. Progressive colour transitions, layered nuances, halos, concentric effects and freer compositions go beyond the traditional notion of pattern: here, colour itself draws the rug. Depending on the intensity and distribution of the shades and the surrounding light, the perception of each creation evolves, revealing the full richness of its chromatic composition.

The collection was originally developed around five emblematic compositions with evocative names: Amour Glamour, Casino Royal, French Riviera, Perle Nacrée and Chocolat Truffe. These creations form the starting point of a universe that today offers far greater chromatic freedom: shades, intensities, transitions and colour combinations can be specifically developed to respond to the identity of an interior or the particular vision of a project.

This mastery of gradients and chromatic combinations allows the technical expertise and exceptional know-how of ELSEN AND SON to be placed at the service of unique, entirely bespoke creations. Eclipse, for example, explores the contrast between a dark centre and a luminous halo with deliberately diffused contours, while a creation developed from a chromatic artwork by Belgian artist Barbara de Pauw demonstrates the House’s ability to translate a complex artistic exploration into material and give it a new expression through the medium of the rug.

Shapes, dimensions and chromatic compositions can therefore be adapted to the specific requirements of each project. From the most subtle gradients to the boldest expressions, this mastery of colour can discreetly complement the interior architecture or, conversely, give rise to a powerful, almost artistic statement piece around which an entire space can be composed.

An EXCLUSIVE collection where mastery of Handtufted, the luminous quality of Mousse de Soie and almost limitless chromatic freedom transform the rug into a true medium for colour.

For interiors that dare, without restraint, to embrace a touch of scandal…
