The One Palm Collection explores a distinctive expression of Abaca, where the natural strength of the material meets a resolutely graphic and decorative language.
The collection draws its inspiration from the evocation of distant places, somewhere between remote landscapes, vegetation and lines traced by nature. An environment that is both organic and graphic, shaped around a certain idea of understated luxury: a strong presence expressed through design and material, without ever becoming ostentatious.
Entirely crafted from Abaca, a plant fibre derived from the banana plant, The One Palm Collection reveals this material in a particularly sophisticated form. The fibres are transformed into cords, rolled and dyed before being entirely assembled by hand onto a woven base, through a meticulous process that the Maison approaches as true Haute Couture for rugs.
This distinctive construction takes Abaca beyond its naturally textured expression, transforming it into a genuine drawing medium. The cords define the surface, emphasise contours and create patterns alternating between geometries, repetitions, curves and more organic compositions. The material simultaneously becomes structure, texture and line.
The collection comprises 22 designs — the 22 “Palms” — each developing its own visual vocabulary. Interplays of diamonds, architectural grids, interlocking forms, undulating lines and almost pictorial compositions create surfaces whose perception evolves according to colour contrast, pattern density and light. Each Palm can therefore assert a strong graphic presence or, conversely, blend more subtly into the architecture it inhabits.
The richness of Abaca is an integral part of this identity. 100% organic, the fibre is valued for its durability, but also for its raw elegance and the nuances inherent to a natural material. Its variations and irregularities give each creation depth and individuality, contrasting beautifully with the precision of the design.
Like all SIGNATURE creations by ELSEN AND SON, The One Palm Collection offers extensive possibilities for personalisation. The 22 Palms can be made entirely bespoke, in different dimensions and shapes. Pattern proportions can be adapted to the dimensions of the rug, while the different colours within each design can be modified, interchanged or fully customised to create a piece specifically conceived for each project.
This adaptability allows the collection to integrate naturally into both contemporary, minimalist interiors and more decorative environments, where the rug becomes a genuine element of the architectural composition.
The One Palm Collection is a meeting between nature and design, between the spontaneity of an organic fibre and the precision of craftsmanship. A SIGNATURE collection in which Abaca is no longer simply a material: it becomes pattern, rhythm and expression.
